Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet area situated in The West Island of Montreal is what you might call a "sleepy" place. People who don't understand about the place mistakenly think that they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. In fact the West Island includes everything westward from Lachine. Lachine. Amanda Brugel's birthplace has been frequently referenced, however her brief time in the city was not. Brugel was raised in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. Her first ambition was to be an expert dancer. But, a growing rate increased her height and she outgrew her dance partners she was able to have. In an article published by The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. When I grew out of my male dancers, I decided to quit. A lot of former dancers go on into acting. In the case of Brugel, it was a nudge from an instructor in drama at high school which led her in the right direction. The teacher who suggested she pursue a role for the annual school production. She was able to audition and be cast as Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she studied Theatre and received the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. The career of Brugel spans more than twenty years, and she's performed in more than 60 shows including big screen productions and smaller ones. The most well-known role she played was the one of Rita (pictured in the below photo) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel appeared only on rare moments in the very first season of the series The Handmaid's tale. She was the only Canadian actor.
