Scars to Your Beautiful is one of the five original songs that reached Billboard's chart. It was a special track due to her Rap-Up interview she gave many of her listeners were able to relate to her experience in discovering their own love as well as doubting herself. Cara's music often contains positive thoughts about mental health, and the importance of loving oneself. She has been struggling with anxiety and insomnia, both of which have influenced her journey. Interview with Reuters, she described her album as "half tumultuous" as well as "half flawless". She found that therapy has helped her develop and encourages others to do the same. Alessia Cara has been a Canadian artist since 1996. Her parents are of Italian descent. Her first guitar was purchased by her parents after she turned 10 which ignited her passion for music. Three years later at 13 she began performing her favourite songs via YouTube a major media platform to prove to the world she was talented and determination to develop into a professional singer.
